YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — Yakima Police Chief Sam Granato says an 18-year-old who was shot to death Sunday in front of his home was executed by rival gang members as he begged for his life.

Granato told the Yakima Herald-Republic that Daniel Rivera was shot multiple times. Fourteen shell casings were found at the scene.

His was the ninth homicide this year in Yakima and the 14th in the Yakima Valley.

A 20-year-old man also was wounded in the arm Sunday in another gang shooting in Yakima.
