FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Revolution activated goalkeeper Matt Reis from the disabled list after Preston Burpo was lost for the season with a broken leg.

Burpo was injured in a 3-2 win over the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night. The team says he underwent surgery Sunday to repair two fractures in his right leg and faces about six months of rehabilitation.

The 35-year-old Reis had been the top goalkeeper for the Revolution for the past six seasons. He was placed on the disabled list April 30 as he continued his rehabilitation from offseason surgeries on his left shoulder and left knee.

New England plays at Seattle FC on Saturday.
