NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Seton Hall forward Herb Pope is back home resting after a nearly monthlong stay in a hospital.

Pirates athletic director Joe Quinlan confirmed Tuesday that Pope was released from Saint Barnabas Medial Center in Livingston, N.J., about 10 days earlier and returned to his home in Pennsylvania.

Pope had been hospitalized since collapsing during a workout at the school in late April.

Citing privacy laws, Quinlan could not discuss what caused the Big East Conference’s leading rebounder this past season to collapse. He said Pope hopes to resume training soon. It is expected that Pope will play for the Pirates and new coach Kevin Willard next season.

Pope had announced his intention to enter the NBA draft after the season, but he withdraw his name in May.

The Aliquippa, Pa., native averaged 11.5 points and led the Big East by averaging 10.7 rebounds.
