COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Yale men’s hockey coach Keith Allain will be in charge of the 2011 U.S. national junior team.
It’s the third time Allain has been named to the position. He guided the U.S. to fifth-place finishes at the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in both 2001 and ’02. Allain has an all-time mark of 9-3-2 at the event.
The U.S. will take part in the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, N.Y., in late December. The Americans won the event last season under the direction of Dean Blais.
Allain has been coaching at Yale since 2006, leading the Bulldogs to three Ivy League crowns and two appearances in the NCAA tournament. His staff will include assistants Mark Osiecki, Phil Housley and Joe Exter.
