SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Chargers have signed fifth-round draft pick Jonathan Crompton to a four-year contract.

The quarterback from Tennessee will be the third-stringer, behind Philip Rivers and Billy Volek.

The Chargers also signed free agent tight end Randy McMichael to a one-year contract.

The nine-year veteran started all but one of the 116 games he played for the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams since entering the league in 2002.

He played under Norv Turner when the Chargers’ coach was the offensive coordinator in Miami in 2002-03.
