OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — Republican Senate candidate Dino Rossi says he has raised more than $600,000 within a week of announcing he was jumping into the race against Democratic Sen. Patty Murray.
Rossi issued a press release Thursday saying that through his website, more than 2,500 people have signed up, and his Facebook page has more than 20,000 followers. He says that of the more than $600,000 raised, nearly $200,000 came through online donations.
Rossi, a two-time gubernatorial runner-up, is one of several Republicans who hope to unseat Murray, a powerful three-term incumbent. But his one-week’s worth of donations already puts him ahead of the GOP pack. Murray has nearly $6 million on hand. The state’s top two primary is Aug. 17.
