Helicopter crash kills pilot

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. (AP) — A light helicopter crashed into the backyard of a home near Felts Field in Spokane Valley, and a Spokane television station reports the student-pilot was killed.

KXLY-TV of Spokane said the helicopter was owned by Inland Helicopters and was being flown by a student pilot.

The crash occurred just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

KXLY said the pilot was the only person aboard the Robinson R22. No one was injured on the ground.
