CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Augusta State won its first NCAA Division I men’s golf national championship after Oklahoma State’s Kevin Tway missed a 3-foot putt on a playoff hole to hand Mitch Krywulycz the match and the Jaguars a 3-1-1 victory.

Tway held a 4-up lead after 11 holes but bogeyed the 12th. Krywulycz answered with birdies on the next three to make the match all square at the 15th hole. The pair matched par for par for the rest of the match, sending it to the 19th hole, where Krywulycz made par and Tway bogeyed.

The Jaguars’ Henrik Norlander and Patrick Reed held a commanding lead through their matches. Norlander beat Morgan Hoffmann 5 and 5 and Reed grabbed a 4-and-2 victory over Peter Uihlein. Sean Einhaus won the Cowboys’ only match, 2 and 1 over Carter Newman.
