CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Charlotte Bobcats coach Larry Brown is sidestepping questions about his future, saying only, “I’m under contract and doing my job” after putting six players through a pre-draft workout.

General manager Rod Higgins, though, is confident Brown will return for a third season.

When asked if it was settled that he’s returning next season, Brown on Monday said, “I’m here. If I wasn’t here, it’d be another thing.” Brown then backed away from reporters and ended the interview.

But Higgins says they’ve begun preparations for next season and isn’t worried that the well-traveled Brown may still decide to leave.

The 69-year-old Brown has had head coaching jobs at 13 pro and college teams. He led the Bobcats to their first playoff berth this season.
