LOS ANGELES (AP) — Cody Regis hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning, helping UCLA advance to the super regionals with a 6-2 win — the Bruins’ school-record 46th — over UC Irvine in the Los Angeles Regional.

UCLA (46-13) will face either Cal State Fullerton or Minnesota in the super regionals next weekend. The last Bruins team to win 45 games was the 1997 squad, which was the last — and only second ever — to advance to the College World Series.

UCLA used Niki Gallego’s triple and Blair Dunlap’s double to put up three runs in the second and third innings. Rob Rasmussen (10-2) got the win.

Drew Hillman and Jordan Leyland homered for the Anteaters (39-21). Starter Eric Pettis (9-5) took the loss.
