Wounded trooper running for Pacific County sheriff

SOUTH BEND, Wash. (AP) — Washington State Patrol Trooper Scott Johnson who was wounded in February in Long Beach is running for Pacific County sheriff.

KXRO reports Johnson filed Wednesday to challenge Sheriff John Didion.

Johnson was shot in the head as he was supervising a van being towed away after a drunken driving stop. A 45-year-old Seaview man was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
