SEATTLE (AP) — The man accused of raping two Seattle women in their home and stabbing one of them to death has been found competent to stand trial.

KOMO Radio reports Friday’s decision in King County Superior Court clears the way for proceedings to begin in the aggravated murder trial of Isaiah Kalebu (kuh-LAY’-boo).

Prosecutor Dan Satterberg is not seeking the death penalty because of Kalebu’s history of mental illness.

He also is charged with attempted murder, rape and burglary in the attack last July that killed Teresa Butz.

If he is convicted, the 24-year-old he will be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
