JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Seven Mexico players including Rafael Marquez trained separately from the rest of the squad Sunday, four days before the team’s Group A match against France.

Marquez hurt his right calf injury in the World Cup’s opening game Friday against South Africa that ended in 1-1 draw. But Mexican soccer officials say the defender’s injury is not serious.

Sunday’s training began with warm-up exercises and quick passing drills. The players then took part in a seven-a-side game.

Marquez, Giovani Dos Santos, Guillermo Franco, Carlos Vela, Francisco Rodriguez, Carlos Salcido and Ricardo Osorio didn’t participate. They all joked among themselves and didn’t show any signs of discomfort.

Mexico plays France in Polokwane on Thursday.
