VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows has had surgery on his shoulder to repair damage sustained during the NHL season.

Canucks general manager Mike Gillis said the surgery on Monday was a success and that Burrows will begin a rehab program.

“At the conclusion of our season and after further consultation with our medical staff it was determined that shoulder surgery was the required procedure for Alex,” Gillis said in a statement.

Burrows led the Canucks with 35 goals during the regular season, but scored just three times during the playoffs — twice into an empty net.
