HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) — A climber who fell near the summit of Mount Hood has died of his injuries.
The Hood River County sheriff’s office said the man fell from about the 9,500 foot level near Coe Glacier about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Deputies said rescue personnel were able to assist at the scene and a helicopter was dispatched but the man died before the helicopter arrived.
The victim was not immediately identified pending notification of his family. Crews were preparing to remove the body Wednesday.
