PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $750,000 for energy efficiency training in Oregon.

Officials say the money will be used to improve the quality of education for future commercial building auditors.

The goal is to train auditors and managers to operate buildings to be energy efficient and find cost and energy savings in small to medium size commercial buildings.

The Oregon grant is part of more than $76 million in funding announced nationwide from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to support advanced energy-efficient building technology projects and training.
