HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) — Police in Hillsboro, Ore., say a woman is dead and an armed man has been fatally wounded by a police officer responding to a call for help from a restaurant.
Lt. Mike Rouches says an officer in the suburb west of Portland responded about 9:20 p.m. Thursday to an incomplete 911 call from a restaurant.
The officer saw a woman who had been stabbed lying on the floor with a man standing over her with a bloody knife. The spokesman says the armed man began approaching the officer, who fired his gun.
The woman was dead at the scene. Rouches says the critically wounded man was taken by helicopter to a Portland hospital, where he died.
