WASHINGTON (AP) — Even President Barack Obama couldn’t resist getting a glimpse of Stephen Strasburg.

With the president and daughters Sasha and Malia making a surprise appearance at Nationals Park on Friday night, Strasburg allowed a run in the first inning. He gave up an infield hit and a bloop double before striking out two to get out of trouble in the first against the Chicago White Sox.

The run crossed the plate on a groundout by Alex Rios — the first allowed by Strasburg that didn’t score on a home run.

The 21-year-old righty went 2-0 with 22 strikeouts in his first two starts and was named National League player of the week.

Obama was there not only to see Strasburg — the president’s favorite team is the White Sox.
