MIAMI (AP) — A person with knowledge of the deal says the Miami Heat has traded shooting guard Daequan Cook and the No. 18 pick in the draft to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither team had publicly announced the trade.
Miami acquired the No. 32 selection and cleared more than $3 million in additional salary-cap space for free agent shopping.
Cook is a former NBA 3-point shootout champion, yet struggled last season and fell out of Miami’s rotation.
The move leaves Miami with four second-round picks in Thursday’s draft. And it positions the Thunder to make a serious splash on draft night, with Oklahoma City currently holding the No. 18, 21, 26, 51 selections.
