HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A 29-year-old East Helena man accused of first-degree murder will be transported to Washington state to face the charge.

David Emerson Nickels appeared in District Court in Helena Thursday morning and signed an extradition waiver allowing Washington law enforcement to take him to Grant County, Wash. Officials said Nickels would likely be arraigned there on Friday or Monday.

Helena Police Chief Troy McGee says Nickels was arrested Wednesday on a $5 million warrant accusing him of shooting and killing 35-year-old Sage Munro in Ephrata, Wash., on Dec. 29.

Officials say further details on the killing will be released after Nickels is arraigned.
