WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Andy Murray has reached the third round of Wimbledon after a comfortable victory over Finland’s Jarkko Nieminen in front of Queen Elizabeth II.
The fourth-seeded British player advanced with a 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 win Thursday.
Murray, who bowed to the queen before and after the match, had 49 winners to Nieminen’s 19 and was rarely troubled by the Finn.
The 23-year-old Scot next faces 26th-seeded Gilles Simon, who advanced with a walkover against Illya Marchenko of Ukraine.
