Crippen, Sutton among US team for Pan Pacs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Fran Crippen and Olympian Chloe Sutton lead the U.S. open water team that will compete in the Pan Pacific Championships in August.

USA Swimming announced the eight-member team on Thursday for the meet that includes swimmers from the U.S., Canada, Australia and Japan. The pool competition is Aug. 18-22 in Irvine, Calif.

The open water competition will feature a 10-kilometer race in Long Beach, Calif., on Aug. 22.

Besides Crippen, the rest of the men’s team is Chip Peterson, Andrew Gemmell and Alex Meyer.

Joining Sutton on the women’s team are Emily Brunemann, Eva Fabian and Christine Jennings.

Bill Rose will serve as head coach for the open water team.
