OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — The Golden State Warriors have selected Baylor forward Ekpe Udoh with the sixth pick in the NBA draft.

Udoh gives the team a capable defender, rebounder and shot-blocker.

Although coach Don Nelson loves to go small, the Warriors are thinking about their long-term future beyond Nelson’s tenure. He is entering the final season of his contract.

Golden State hopes Udoh will mesh nicely with young point guard Stephen Curry, runner-up to Tyreke Evans for Rookie of the Year last season.
