Gimme Credit wins $82,000 feature at Monmouth Park

OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) — Gimme Credit got up in the final strides to post a half-length victory in the $82,000 allowance feature at Monmouth Park on Friday.

In giving jockey Joe Bravo his third winner on the card, Gimme Credit covered the mile on the firm turf course in 1:34.4. The 7-year-old son of Artax, who is trained by Chad Brown paid $9.40, $3.40 and $3 as the second choice in the field of seven.

Ever a Friend finished second and paid $2.60 and $2.40. Virsito, who set the pace until giving way late, faded to third and was worth $5.40 to show.

It was the first win in four starts for Gimme Credit.

Bravo, who started the day as Monmouth’s leading rider with 20 wins, captured the sixth race aboard Tigresco and the ninth on Myakka City.
