LOUDON, N.H. (AP) — Roush Fenway owner Jack Roush says he replaced Matt Kenseth’s crew chief because strategies and setups were simply not working.

Roush replaced Todd Parrott with Jimmy Fennig on the No. 17 Ford this week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, giving Kenseth his third crew chief this season. Parrott has returned to the research and development department.

Roush says the team wasn’t making enough adjustments during practice and there wasn’t a well-defined direction. He says Kenseth had trouble getting through a pre-race inspection last week at Infineon Raceway.

Kenseth says he hopes an opportunity to “mix things up” will push the team in the right direction.

Kenseth is seventh in the points standings, but has finished no better than 14th in the last three races.
