SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Three people were lightly wounded when gunfire erupted during a Spokane summer festival.

Police officer Teresa Fuller says five men have been arrested in connection with the violence during Saturday’s Hoopfest celebration.

She says that at least one shot was fired as fighting broke out near Howard Street and Spokane Falls Blvd. between two rival gangs around 6 p.m.

Two female bystanders were hit by a gunshot and a man was apparently hit by a fragment of the bullet. All were treated at a hospital and released; none was connected to the fighting.

Fuller says the five men, between the ages of 18 and 21, were arrested either at the scene or at nearby. They face an array of charges ranging from first degree assault to disorderly conduct.

Investigators are asking that anyone who has photos or video of the violence to come forward.
