DALLAS (AP) — The Dallas Mavericks are giving veteran All-Star guard Jason Kidd a needed break.

Coach Rick Carlisle says Kidd is “perfectly healthy” but is inactive for Wednesday night’s game against Minnesota, which is the Mavericks’ 10th in 16 days since the All-Star break.

Kidd, who turns 37 later this month, has averaged 36 minutes a game in 60 starts. He missed only one game before Wednesday.

Dallas plays three more games in four days starting Friday.
