CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland (AP) — Olympic downhill champion Lindsey Vonn was third in a training run for a World Cup downhill race.

The two-time defending World Cup overall winner was 0.73 seconds behind Elisabeth Goergl on Thursday.

The Austrian came down the course on Thursday in 1 minute, 40.81 seconds. Switzerland’s Fabienne Suter was second, 0.37 seconds behind.

Americans Stacey Cook and Alice McKennis were also in the top 10.

The women race a super-combined on Friday, followed by a downhill and super-G over the weekend.

The speed races offer Vonn an opportunity to pad her 137-point lead over Maria Riesch in the overall World Cup standings.
