CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (AP) — Central Point police say they have arrested a 16-year-old boy after a homemade bomb was set off in a boys bathroom at Crater High School.

Authorities say no one was injured and no serious damaged caused when the bomb went off Wednesday morning. About 1,500 students were evacuated for more than an hour while state Bomb Squad members removed the remains of the device and searched the school.

Police Lt. Chuck Newell tells the Mail Tribune newspaper that the bomb was a plastic soda bottle filled with household chemicals. He says the boy was arrested for investigation of felony manufacture and possession of a destructive device, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
