STOCKHOLM (AP) — Leonardo Mayer rallied past Joachim Johansson to lift Argentina to a 1-1 tie against Sweden in the first round of Davis Cup.

Mayer won 5-7, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 Friday in the singles on the hardcourt of Royal Tennis Hall. Robin Soderling beat Eduardo Schwank 6-1, 7-6 (0), 7-5 in the opening match.

Soderling cruised through the first set but Schwank fought back in the second, breaking the Swede’s serve to force a tiebreaker.

Up 6-5 in the third, Soderling broke Schwank’s serve on his third match point.

Soderling and Robert Lindstedt will face Mayer and Horacio Zeballos in the doubles on Saturday.
