Two helicopters — one from Coast Guard Station Astoria, and the other from the Washington Air National Guard — have been added to the search for a hiker presumed missing near Bonneville Dam.

In all, 50 searchers, plus nine tracking dogs, are in the field looking for 24-year-old Katherine Huether of Portland. Huether has been missing since Thursday evening, after she sent a text message saying she was going on a day hike near Bonneville Dam and would return by evening. She was reported missing Saturday.

Skamania County Undersheriff Dave Cox says searchers found their first clue Sunday when a searcher found a credit card receipt with Huether’s name on it about four miles north of Bonneville Dam in the Table Mountain area.

Searchers are combing an area spanning 12-square miles.

Cox says there’s nothing to indicate Huether might be a victim of a crime; she’s just lost.
