CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Cristy McKinney has resigned as coach of the Clemson women’s basketball team.

In a statement released by the school on Wednesday, McKinney says a change was needed for both her and the university after her five years running the program.

She had a 13-18 record this year and a 58-93 record at Clemson over all.

Athletic Director Terry Don Phillips says he appreciated McKinney’s work and dedication to the school. He says a coaching search will begin immediately.

Clemson ended its season last week with a 54-59 loss at North Carolina State.
