RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (AP) — Heavy rain forced the suspension of first-round play Thursday in the PGA Tour’s Puerto Rico Open.

Before play was suspended at 7:19 a.m., Skip Kendall holed a 7-iron shot from 159 yards for eagle on the par-4 10th. Eighteen players teed off before play was stopped.

Play was called for the day at 1:30 p.m. after about 6 inches hit the already soaked Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico course.

The $3.5 million tournament is being held opposite the World Golf Championships-CA Championship at Doral.
