O’Brady’s Drive-In will give away free green ice-cream cones one last time at its Dollars Corner location on St. Patrick’s Day.

O’Brady’s will be forced to close the restaurant, 7111 N.E. 219th St., because of a road widening project set to begin in 2012. Owner Susie Brady expects this to be the restaurant’s last year at its Dollars Corner location, where it’s been since 1974 when her parents opened the drive-in.

The restaurant will continue its decades-long tradition of giving away free green ice-cream cones and face painting during “The Final Jig, O’Brady’s Last St. Paddy’s Fest.” The event will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. In addition to the regular menu, the restaurant will also offer corned-beef sandwiches and potato soup.

Brady said she hopes to relocate the restaurant, but at this point, the drive-in’s future is uncertain.
