PALM HARBOR, Fla. (AP) — Jim Furyk is one round away from ending the longest drought of his career since he was a rookie.

Furyk made consecutive birdies on the back Saturday to pull away from the pack and finished off a bogey-free round of 4-under 67 to build a three-shot lead in the Transition Championship.

He has not won since the Canadian Open in 2007, a span of 58 tournaments. It also has been nearly three years since Furyk last held the 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour.

Furyk was at 11-under 202, but he has a strong group of contenders behind him. Defending champion Retief Goosen, and past Innisbrook winners K.J. Choi and Carl Pettersson were in the large group at 205. Also three shots behind was Bubba Watson, who has never won anywhere.
