HEERENVEEN, Netherlands (AP) — Sven Kramer of the Netherlands has become the first speedskater to win four straight overall titles at the World Allround Speedskating Championships by winning the men’s 10,000 meters in 12 minutes, 57.97 seconds.

Sven’s victory Sunday follows a high-profile gaffe at the Winter Olympics. The Dutchman was cruising to an apparent gold and Olympic record time in the 10,000 in Vancouver, but was disqualified after his coach sent him into the wrong lane.

Overnight leader Jonathan Kuck of the U.S. settled for second overall after finishing fourth Sunday. Havard Bokko of Norway placed second to finish third overall.

Earlier Sunday, Kristina Groves of Canada took the lead in the women’s standings by winning the 1,500 in 1:56.64. The women’s 5,000 is held later Sunday.
