Pedroia leaves early with strained wrist

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia left Tuesday nights game against the Minnesota Twins with a strained left wrist.

Pedroia hurt the wrist while diving for a ball hit by Twins leadoff hitter Denard Span in the first inning. Pedroia made a throwing error on the same play. Angel Sanchez replaced Pedroia in the second inning.

The Red Sox said Pedroia’s status was day-to-day.
