OAK HARBOR, Wash. (AP) — A proposal for a gentleman’s club in Oak Harbor where nude women would dance for money prompted the city council to pass emergency legislation to impose restrictions.
Nightclub developer Michelle O’Kelley says her alcohol-free club would be geared to a higher-end customer base.
KING-TV reports her idea brought a crowd Tuesday night to City Hall. Mayor Jim Slowik says officials realized they didn’t have ordinances to protect churches and schools.
So, the council approved a 750-foot buffer zone around churches, schools and parks and imposed licensing regulations for the women who would perform.
