BALTIMORE (AP) — Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts says his ailing lower back could keep him on the disabled list for several months.
Roberts said Sunday that he’s feeling better, but that it’s impossible for him to guess when he might be cleared for baseball activities.
He put the range at between three weeks and three months, but said the latter projection is a worst-case scenario.
Roberts was placed on the disabled list April 12 with a strained abdominal muscle and to receive further treatment on a herniated disk in his back.
The two-time All-Star missed much of spring training after receiving an epidural shot in his back. He hit .143 in four games during the regular season before hurting himself stealing second base.
