COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) — A municipal court jury in Cottage Grove exonerated a former high school teacher accused of groping a teenage girl while she was drunk at a party.

The Register-Guard reports the jury deliberated about 45 minutes Thursday before returning the verdict on a misdemeanor sex-abuse charge.

Shane Adrian Mast testified on his own behalf during the one-day trial. The 32-year-old Drain resident faces another trial in November in Roseburg where he is accused of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Mast taught social studies at Cottage Grove High and coached boys basketball at North Douglas High School in Drain. He resigned in 2008 to focus on missionary work in Africa.
