Two suspects arrested in car prowls, victims sought

Two suspects alleged to have preyed on unlocked vehicles Sunday in a quest to procure small electronic devices have been arrested, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office announced in a bulletin.

Anyone who was victimized by a car prowl Sunday in the area surrounding Gaiser Middle School, 3000 N.E. 99th St., is asked to visit the sheriff’s office’s West Precinct from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or call 360-397-6079. After 5 p.m., thefts can be reported to 911.

Callers are asked to reference case number S-10-6430.

Arrested in connection with at least 10 auto prowls were two Vancouver teens; Alejandro Vargas-Leon, 18, and a 17-year-old whose name was not released.

They were arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft, second-degree possession of stolen property and theft of a firearm.

“We have a minimum of 10 victims,” said Sgt. Chad Rothenberger, a sheriff’s spokesman. “Hopefully we’ll hear from more people and we can get victims their property back.”

The west precinct is located at 505 N.W. 179th St., west of the Clark County Fairgrounds, in Ridgefield.
