MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A 30-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in the slaying of a teenage girl who disappeared while walking to a church meeting nearly 14 years ago.

William Simmons’ public defender, Andy Vandergaw, entered the plea for his client Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court in Medford, Ore.

Simmons has long been considered a suspect in the slaying of 15-year-old Kaelin Rose Glazier. The sophomore at South Medford High School was last seen Nov. 6, 1996. Her body was discovered in 2008 near where Simmons lived in 1996.
