EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Eugene-based cereal company Golden Temple has been sold to Hearthside Food Solutions, an Illinois-based food manufacturer.

The Register-Guard newspaper reports that Hearthside CEO Rich Scalise was not available to comment on how the sale would affect Golden Temple’s cereal operation in Eugene. It employs 230 people and produces bulk granola, private-label products and Peace, Yogi and Sweet Home Farm branded cereals.

Golden Temple issued a statement in which Scalise said he views the strength of the Eugene work force as a key driver of future growth.

The sale only affects Golden Temple’s cereal business. Golden Temple will continue operating its Yogi Tea division.
