SEATTLE (AP) — The University of Washington School of Medicine plans an expansion in the south Lake Union area of Seattle that would more than double the lab and research space it has added there since 2003.
The Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce reports the UW Board of Regents recently agreed on a plan that could add three buildings, costing $516 million.
Construction on one $166 million building is scheduled to start next year on land leased from the Vulcan Real Estate company.
The university has until 2015 to decide whether to develop the other two buildings.
