ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers recalled left-hander Derek Holland from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make his first start of the season Wednesday night against the Oakland Athletics.

Holland takes the rotation spot of left-hander Matt Harrison, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with left biceps tendinitis, retroactive to May 7.

Holland has been working on his mechanics with pitching coach Mike Maddux since Sunday, but wasn’t activated until Wednesday.

Holland was 4-1 with a 0.93 ERA in six starts for Oklahoma City. Last season Holland went 8-13 with a 6.12 ERA in 33 games for Texas.

Harrison was 1-1 with a 5.29 ERA in six starts for Texas this season. He said his arm felt better during a throwing session in the outfield on Wednesday.
