Triangle Lake teen killed in Low Pass crash

LOW PASS, Ore. (AP) — One Triangle Lake High School student was killed and two others were injured when their SUV slid off a Bureau of Land Management road and rolled about 300 yards near Low Pass.

The Lane County sheriff’s office told The Register-Guard 18-year-old Shayleen Monticue was thrown from the Jeep Cherokee Tuesday afternoon and died at the scene.

Another passenger, 15-year-old Ryan James Schaenzer, hiked about a mile to Highway 36 to call for help. He and the driver, 17-year-old Ethan James Purkey, were taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Salem. They were reported in stable condition.
