DETROIT (AP) — The New York Yankees recalled first baseman Juan Miranda from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre before Thursday’s game against the Detroit Tigers.

Miranda started against Detroit with Nick Swisher sidelined with a sore left bicep. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Swisher is day-to-day.

To make room for Miranda, the Yankees optioned infielder Kevin Russo to Scranton Wilkes-Barre.
