VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — A Vancouver, Wash., woman who admitted fatally stabbing her 20-month-old son in 2006 has been sentenced to 20 years in prison. With credit for time already served, Kelly Meining faces a sentence of 16 years and four months.

Meining pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of second-degree murder, acknowledging she stabbed her youngest child Bryce eight or nine times with a kitchen knife.

Last month she lost a bid to pursue an insanity defense.

The 34-year-old woman had earlier pleaded guilty but an appeals court allowed her to withdraw the plea.
