ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — The discovery of dead elk in rural Clatsop County has led to charges against four Astoria High School students.

State police say the boys went hunting during a camping trip in early April, killing four elk and leaving much of the meat to waste.

A 16-year-old and a 15-year-old are charged with taking of elk in closed season and wasting wildlife.

Two other 16-year-olds are accused of aiding a wildlife offense by taking elk during the closed season.

Police have not released the names of the juveniles.
