Geology field trip cut short by eruption

My wife and I were on an educational geology bus tour of eastern Oregon.

We had one more day to finish off the trip when some fool turned on their radio and discovered that Mount St. Helens was erupting.

It was decided to cut our trip short and race back to Portland to save our homes.

My thought was: How stupid. If that was the case, it was already too late and there wasn’t a damn thing you could do about saving your home.
